Informed Consent for Teleconsultation

Last updated: 01 August 2026 · Effective from launch

In plain words: Ayurathma connects you with a registered Ayurvedic practitioner (BAMS) for a text-based consultation. This page explains what such a consultation can and cannot do, your rights during it, and how your information is used — so you can decide, with a clear picture, before you book. Booking a consultation confirms that you have read and agreed to this consent.

1. What you are consenting to

You are choosing to receive an Ayurvedic consultation remotely, over text (and any images or reports you choose to share), instead of an in-person visit. The consultation is provided by a practitioner holding a BAMS qualification and registered with a State Board / Council of Indian Medicine under the NCISM, in accordance with the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines, 2020 (India). By proceeding, you consent to being assessed and advised in this manner.

2. The nature — and limits — of a remote Ayurvedic consultation

Classical Ayurvedic assessment often draws on direct physical examination — for example nadi pariksha (pulse reading), examination of the tongue, eyes, skin and voice, and palpation. A remote, text-based consultation cannot include any of these. Your practitioner relies on what you describe in writing and on any images or documents you upload. Because of this:

3. This is a text consultation

Consultations on Ayurathma take place through secure written messages, with the option to share documents such as lab reports or a food diary (PDF/JPG/PNG). We do not currently offer live audio or video consultations. If at any point your practitioner feels your concern needs a spoken or in-person interaction, they will tell you so.

4. Accuracy of the information you provide

The quality and safety of the advice you receive depends directly on the accuracy and completeness of what you tell us — your symptoms, history, current medicines, allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding status, and lifestyle. Please answer the intake questions honestly and in full. Ayurathma and the practitioner cannot be responsible for outcomes arising from information that was incomplete, inaccurate, or withheld.

Not for emergencies. Ayurathma is not an emergency service. Do not use it for chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, stroke symptoms, suicidal thoughts, poisoning, high fever in an infant, or any situation that may be life-threatening. In an emergency, call 108 (India) or go to the nearest hospital immediately. Ayurvedic care is complementary to, and not a substitute for, emergency or life-saving allopathic (modern) medical care.

5. Prescriptions and treatment scope

Where appropriate, your practitioner may recommend Ayurvedic medicines, diet, and lifestyle measures suitable for a remote consultation — typically over-the-counter and general-use preparations. Certain medicines and conditions require in-person evaluation and will not be prescribed over text. Any prescription issued to you is for your personal use only, is based on the current consultation, and should not be shared with or used by anyone else.

6. Your rights during the consultation

7. Technical risks

Because the consultation depends on internet connectivity and software, interruptions can happen — delayed or undelivered messages, connection drops, or images that fail to upload. These may slow a consultation or, rarely, require it to be rescheduled. Ayurathma is a scheduled, non-continuous service: it does not provide real-time or round-the-clock monitoring, and a message may not be seen immediately.

8. Privacy, records and recording

Your consultation messages, uploaded documents, and prescriptions are stored securely and used to provide your care and maintain your medical record, as set out in our Privacy Policy (aligned with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023). By proceeding, you consent to this processing. You should not screen-record, photograph, or publish the consultation or your practitioner's messages without consent, just as we will not share your information except as described in that policy.

9. Identity and eligibility

You confirm that the details you provide are your own, that you are 18 years of age or older (or are a parent/guardian consenting on behalf of a minor in your care), and that you are seeking this consultation for a genuine health concern.

10. Fees

Consultation fees are shown before you confirm a booking. During our launch phase, bookings are made on a trust basis and our team arranges payment with you separately; no platform or booking fee is charged. Please also see our Terms of Service and Refund & Cancellation Policy.

11. Withdrawing your consent

Your consent is voluntary. You may withdraw it at any time by stopping the consultation and letting us know at ayurathma2026@gmail.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of care already provided, and some records may be retained where the law requires.

12. Your affirmation

By booking a consultation and completing the intake form, you confirm that you have read and understood this Informed Consent, that you have had the chance to consider it, and that you agree to receive an Ayurvedic teleconsultation on these terms.

13. Questions

If anything here is unclear, please write to us at ayurathma2026@gmail.com before you book. For grievances, our Grievance Officer's details are in the Privacy Policy.
